The Minotaur
A downloadable game for macOS
You are Prepheus, one of the many sacrifices to the Minotaur before Theseus - one of the many whose story is untold. King Minos of Crete decided that you, a Kythrian citizen, would be sent to die in the Labyrinth as a prisoner of war. The Labyrinth was constructed by inventor Daedalus, and houses the Minotaur; it is littered with secrets, puzzles, and enemies! You do not want to wind up as a pile of bones in one of it’s forlorn passageways, so you must utilize your warrior skills to avoid the Minotaur, defeat enemies, and solve puzzles to escape the Labyrinth and return home to Kythira.
The Minotaur is a 3rd person action-adventure puzzle game where the player must navigate a dangerous maze. This game is primarily combative, but includes progression puzzles and several opportunities for stealth. Player POV is controlled with the mouse, and player movement is controlled with the WASD keys, with the shift key to sprint/roll/dodge. Left and right mouse buttons are for light and heavy attacks, and they can be strung together to perform flashy combos. The E key is for interacting with objects and the P key toggles the pause menu.
In The Minotaur, you will encounter the Minotaur himself… but be warned, you are not Theseus so it is not your destiny to slay the Minotaur - this means you cannot harm him! You can hack and slash your way through the lesser skeleton enemies but you must hide from the Minotaur. Hack walls to leave stone chunks behind and mark your way, solve puzzles, collect items, and free spirits to unlock passageways or gain power ups, and collect scrolls to learn the story behind the Minotaur. All while you fight to escape and be free! Go warrior, and pray the gods are on your side.
